MEDIA ADVISORY: Octasic to Present at the Executive Forum on Microelectronics
MONTREAL, Canada - November 3, 2003 - Octasic, a leading provider of innovative silicon used for voice processing in TDM and IP networks, announced that the company's chief technology officer, Doug Morrissey, will be presenting at the Executive Forum on Microelectronics in Ottawa. Mr. Morrissey's presentation will take place at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4th at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Presentation: "Excelling in Challenging Times: A Marketing Success Story"
Mr. Morrissey will discuss the importance of carving out a well-defined niche in anexpanding target market and how a careful product development and roll-out strategy have been key success factors for companies that are still thriving during the technology-market slowdown. His presentation will discuss Octasic's successful marketing strategy, specifically with respect to its flagship echo cancellation solutions.
Echo cancellation is one of the key technologies behind voice quality in telephone calls. As we move from TDM to IP networks, it is important that, with respect to voice quality, this evolution in infrastructure is transparent to the end-user. The average person making a cell-phone or LAN-line call should have as-good-as or a better "Call-Experience". If not, fewer calls will be made, resulting in less revenue for service providers. Mr. Morrissey will look at how Octasic identified the need for a better echo cancellation solution, educated the telecommunications infrastructure market about that need and achieved successful results even during trying times for the technology sector.
