Octasic Announces a PCIe-based, Dual-sector, Multi-mode SDR Base Station Platform

With the OCTBTS 3600 platform, OEMs can quickly develop or prototype wireless products on Intel® x86-based platforms using a standard PCIe module running Octasic’s cellular base station software.

MONTREAL, Canada – November 18, 2014 –  Octasic Inc., a leading supplier of speciality base station technology and platforms for wireless OEMs, today introduced the latest member of its OCTBTS family, the OCTBTS 3600. The OCTBTS 3600 is a dual-sector, multi-mode, and fully programmable base station platform designed to seamlessly work in PC-type environments through a PCIe interface. Each OCTBTS 3600 module allows OEMs to easily implement base stations and specialized radio systems with two independent transceivers that support any combination of GSM, CDMA2000, HSPA, or LTE air interfaces, or custom air interfaces. The OCTBTS 3600 is also able to quickly and independently set its two air interfaces to any frequency between 400 MHz and 4 GHz.

The OCTBTS 3600 is an ideal platform for vendors looking for a highly flexible and highly portable base station based on an x86 environment. Typical applications for the OCTBTS 3600 include: deployable networks, private cellular networks, managed access networks, vehicle-mounted base stations, and specialized portable radio systems.
