Octasic Announces a PCIe-based, Dual-sector, Multi-mode SDR Base Station Platform
With the OCTBTS 3600 platform, OEMs can quickly develop or prototype wireless products on Intel® x86-based platforms using a standard PCIe module running Octasic’s cellular base station software.
MONTREAL, Canada – November 18, 2014 – Octasic Inc., a leading supplier of speciality base station technology and platforms for wireless OEMs, today introduced the latest member of its OCTBTS family, the OCTBTS 3600. The OCTBTS 3600 is a dual-sector, multi-mode, and fully programmable base station platform designed to seamlessly work in PC-type environments through a PCIe interface. Each OCTBTS 3600 module allows OEMs to easily implement base stations and specialized radio systems with two independent transceivers that support any combination of GSM, CDMA2000, HSPA, or LTE air interfaces, or custom air interfaces. The OCTBTS 3600 is also able to quickly and independently set its two air interfaces to any frequency between 400 MHz and 4 GHz.
The OCTBTS 3600 is an ideal platform for vendors looking for a highly flexible and highly portable base station based on an x86 environment. Typical applications for the OCTBTS 3600 include: deployable networks, private cellular networks, managed access networks, vehicle-mounted base stations, and specialized portable radio systems.
“The popularity of our OCTBTS base station platforms led us to expand the product family to serve system designers preferring to work in a PC environment” commented Peter Blood, Director of Product Management at Octasic. “Users can take an OCTBTS 3600 and simply install it in any PC-based system to offer base station capabilities.”
About the OCTBTS 3600
The OCTBTS 3600 is a PCIe module that implements a dual-sector SDR base station. It is ideal for radio OEMs with existing PC-based software solutions. In addition to PC compatibility, the OCTBTS 3600 offers all the benefits of the OCTBTS family, including:
- 20 Km range and vehicular-speed mobility for all mobile standards
- Multi-protocol support (GSM/EDGE, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, CDMA2000) on a single platform
- Fast frequency agility from 400 MHz to 4 GHz
- Rapid, low-risk development, thanks to a pre-integrated hardware/software solution
- Low power consumption
- SDR development environment for OEMs wishing to enhance the standard radio software or develop their own radio interfaces
OEMs need only add a power amplifier and filters suitable to their application.
