2G/2.5G System Expert

Full time - Starting no later than November 26, 2007

Octasic is currently developing the Base-station baseband software for its next generation semiconductors. This software includes modules that perform Layer 1 signal processing, as well as interfaces to higher layers for current and next generation cellular standards.

As 2G/2.5G System Expert in the Software Defined Radio team, you will participate in the design, architecture definition, implementation and integration of the 2G/2.5G (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, eEDGE) software solution .You will closely work with the signal processing and validation experts on the integration and validation phases.

Main Responsibilities

Perform technical support’s daily operations for Octasic customers:

• Write Design Specifications, Software requirements and Software Models;
• System Architecture Definition;
• Specify timing requirements based on 3GPP specifications.
• Interfacing with SP Experts to validate and track the real-time feasibility.
• Participate in code reviews;
• Assist the validation group during releases and validation phases.
• Write and review technical documentation used internally and by customers;

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering;
• Overall work experience: 8+ years in wireless system design;
• Knowledge of the 2G and 2.5G GSM/GPRS/EDGE protocols.
• Familiar with the following environments:
• Programming languages:  C/C++;
• 3GPP validation procedures and conformance testing.
• Development tools: Microsoft Visual Studio,
• System tools:SPW, ADS, Matlab.
• A development experience in the following environments is an asset:
• WCDMA based 3G Systems
• Radio Interface
• Embedded debug & trace methodology
• Good English writing skills and basic oral English are required; oral French is a strong asset.
