Octasic to Showcase the Evolution of the OCTBTS 3000 Platform with LTE Demonstration at MWC 2014

Octasic will demonstrate its OCTBTS 3000 miniature SDR base station platform, which has been widely adopted for 3G applications,

MONTREAL, Canada – February 13, 2014 – Following on the heels of the announcement that the new OCTBTS 3000 miniature base station platform is now shipping to clients, Octasic Inc. will showcase the multi-mode capabilities of the platform with a live LTE demonstration during MWC 2014. This will be the first time that the OCTBTS 3000 – the smallest full-mobility base station in the world – will be shown to the public, and builds on an SDR platform has already been selected by multiple clients for their 3G developments.

The Octasic flexiPHY LTE physical layer software (PHY) will allow a new range of data-intensive applications to benefit from Octasic’s compact, power-efficient base station platforms, and allow OEMs using the platform to count on a pre-integrated LTE solution to simplify their development projects. The Octasic LTE PHY is compatible with the complete range of OCTBTS base station platforms. Like Octasic’s 3G solution, the LTE PHY supports a 20 Km range and vehicular speed mobility, making it suitable for a wide array of applications in mobile networks, public safety networks, and deployable networks for emergency response and military users.

Michel Laurence, President of Octasic, commented “Octasic has rapidly widened its range of products for base station developers. The OCTBTS 3000 platform has proven extremely popular with developers of outdoor micro cell base stations, both for public and private network applications. Our SDR technology has served us well, and the ability to evolve with more advanced air interfaces like LTE allows a wider and wider range of applications to benefit from our pre-integrated solutions.”

The OCTBTS 3000 is part of Octasic’s family of base station platforms for OEMs. Based on the Octasic OCT2224W baseband SoC, the entire family supports GSM, HSPA, LTE and CDMA cellular standards, as well as customized and proprietary air interfaces. Base station modules are available in one, two, and three sector configurations for a variety of applications.
