First Product to Address Industry’s Need for Turn-Key, High-Quality Enterprise HD Videoconferencing Solution
MONTREAL, Canada – January 25, 2011 – Octasic Inc., a leading innovator of media processing and wireless solutions, today announced its new comprehensive video gateway software suite that enables its OCT2224M chipset to radically change the landscape of video applications in media gateways. The first product application for the new software addresses enterprises’ needs for high-definition videoconferencing.
The latest release of Octasic’s Vocallo MGW software provides high-quality, high-density, high-resolution (1080p) processing with more channels per watt than any other solution on the market. Because the software is a turnkey solution, it allows media gateway providers a quick and painless time-to-market. OEMs entering the video conferencing space can implement a new video multipoint control unit (MCU) in a matter of weeks with Octasic’s high-level API.

Octasic’s OCT2200 series of DSPs, including the OCT2224M, brings all the power-saving advantages of asynchronous circuits to a wide range of high-performance DSP applications. Incorporating up to 24 Opus2 DSP cores with a rich set of I/O interfaces and an optional ARM core provides an ideal platform for a broad range of applications. The performance of the OCT2224M device for media processing allows encoding of two 1080p video streams simultaneously without the need for hardware acceleration.

As 2011 unfolds, future applications for Octasic’s video software package will be announced which will take advantage of the software’s full-range of frame rates, bit rates, codecs, and video resolutions from QCIF to HD. In addition to video conferencing, the software supports transcoding, resizing, and bit-rate adaptation, all of which provide a robust platform for additional applications.
